
The merit badge counselor is a key player in the Boy Scout advancement program. Whatever your area of expertise or interest—whether it is a special craft or hobby (basketry, leatherwork, coin collecting), a profession (veterinary medicine, aviation, engineering), or perhaps a life skill (cooking, personal management, communications)—as a merit badge counselor, you can play a vital role in stirring a young man's curiosity about that particular topic. By serving as a merit badge counselor, you offer your time, knowledge, and other resources so that Scouts can explore a topic of interest.
Merit Badge Counselor Information - Counselors are required to complete this form indicating that they are proficient in the Merit Badge subject by vocation, avocation, or special training. This form needs to be completed annually to continue to teach the Merit Badge subject.
Boy Scouts of America Adult Application - As members of the Boy Scouts of America, high-quality adult leaders are important role models for youth. This application helps to select qualified leaders to serve as volunteers. There is no fee for registering as a Merit Badge Counselor
Youth Protection Training - All applicants for adult membership, including Merit Badge counselors, are required to complete Youth Protection Training before submitting their Adult Application and before volunteer service with youth begins. This training is available online at www.scouting.org
