Looking Back. Leading into the future.

In February 2010, the Boy Scouts of America will celebrate 100 years as an organization. Founded as an outlet to prepare every eligible youth in America to become a participating citizen and leader, BSA has more than fulfilled its mission. Today, as we celebrate our first 100 years, we not only reflect on our rich history, but lay the foundation for a strong future, as well.

There are many exciting activities planned to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Scouting.  Get Involved with the following activities:

To help celebrate the 2010 Celebrate Scouting stamp your unit is invited to write letters to troops and/or veterans.   Writing letters to the Troops or Veterans.  Units can also send care packages to our troops.

Do you have a Scouting Story?  The National Scouting Museum is preserving personal stories of Scouting's First 100 years.  Please contact Gail Mayfield, assistant curator, at 800-303-3047 or gail.mayfield@scouting.org for details. 

Come celebrate the 100th Anniversary at the Council Court of Honor - March 21, 2010 Interstate Holiday Inn Grand Island.  District Award of Mert, Silver Beaver and 2009 Eagle Scouts will be honored at the dinner. 

BSA Adventure Base 100 will be at the State Fair in Grand Island on August 29-31, 2010.  We will need volunteers to help man the base.  If you are interested in volunteering please contact David Plond at dplond@bsamail.org

Please visit the National website External Linkfor more information on the eight national programs that your unit can get involved in.  Some of these programs will be coordinated at our Council and District levels. 

2010 Historical Merit Badge program include four Merit Badges (Carpentry, Tracking, Signaling and Pathfinding) that can be earned only during the calendar year 2010, in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America.
